A very affectionate cat with everyone, I do not call it tiger to be a bit fierce, absolutely not!

I had a lot of fun watching this cat very intelligent and always in action: climb up the trees and observe what's going on around, get close to having the cuddles, and purring not ending ... I'd be taken home.

Impossible because the owners even having dogs, this cat is their "idol"!

This photo was taken at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It's the first zoo I've been to where they allow you to pet and feed the giraffes. There is a boardwalk surrounding their habitat which is at the perfect hight to allow them to put their heads over the railing to grab food, clothes, cameras, etc.

Affectionately known as Shrommpa, Art is an acclaimed poet, mushroom expert, and community mover in western Colorado. He’s on the board of the Telluride Institute and Talking Gourds, a central inspiration for the annual Telluride Mushroom Festival, and a friend of mine since 1976.

I found this 10” in diameter shelf mushroom on a dead cottonwood. It is the first time I’ve attempted to use an artist conk mushroom as a drawing/etching surface.

I drew this from a reference photograph taken by his daughter Iris Willow.

Affectionately known as the B.O.O.T. (Big Oblong Orange Thing)

The Silky Terrier dog breed exemplifies the expression “small dog, big personality.” Weighing just eight to ten pounds when full grown, they’re tough and confident, perhaps because of their heritage as a hunter of small prey. Beneath the Silky’s feisty personality is a loving companion dog who loves to stick close to their person. They can even adapt to apartment life, so long as they get plenty of exercise.

Affectionate, happy, hard-working. Never a complaint from her.

Now three months shy of her 12th birthday.

I loved the indulgent, affectionate looks of these two grandmothers in traditional attire as they watched their grandchildren inside a yurt, Almaty, Kazakhstan. This is an unposed image taken in the natural light coming from the open doorway to the yurt and converted to black and white.

All my animals are very affectionate but Squirty just goes beyond affectionate. He is the most 'in ya face' kinda cat i have ever owned and I mean that literally.

As a small kitten he was obsessed with my face and still is, he is getting better but at about 4am every morning he will lay on my face, around my neck, put his nose on my mouth anything to be really, really close to me.

If he get's tired and I am home in the middle of the day he will find me and paw at my face and give me head rubs until he is just too tired to stay awake any longer.

He is so darn cute and loveable. I have to say his affection has helped the hurt of losing Beaker.

31418, affectionately known as 'Boadicea' in its latter working life, enters the station with the 10.15 B'ham, New St - Norwich service.

It's good to know the loco is in the safe hands of A1A locomotive services and is currently being fully restored.

The station signal box here has served its term. Amazingly there were a further 4 boxes within less than a mile of the station!

In German known affectionately and simply as "Michel", the first Hauptkirche Sankt Michaelis (literally Head Church St. Michael) at this site was built between the late 1640s and 1660s. In 1750, that church was burnt down after a lightning strike. Construction of the second St. Michael's in the baroque style began within the same year and took 12 years. A wood tower addition was completed in 1786. In 1906, an accidental fire again completely destroyed this second St. Michael's.

Between 1906 and 1912, construction of the third St. Michael’s church took place. The old plans were used, this time utilising steel and concrete inside the remaining walls. Only the baptism font and offering box remained from 1763. This current St, Michael's suffered heavy damages during World War II, but was fully restored between 1947 and 1952.

Hauptkirche St. Michaelis is a purpose-built Protestant church, unlike many centuries-old European churches that were built and decorated as Roman Catholic but converted to Protestant during Reformation. It is considered one of the finest Hanseatic Protestant baroque churches. The spire tower is 132 m (433 feet) high and the viewing platform is open to the public (admission fee applies).

Siamese cats are known to be affectionate, friendly, loyal and bold. The Blue Point Siamese is said by some to be the gentlest and most affectionate of all the Colorpoint Shorthair varieties, although certainly many fanciers of the other Siamese color varieties might dispute that characterization. Siamese have been described as precocious, gregarious, intelligent and outgoing. They are extremely friendly with people and other pets that they know and like, and they thrive on companionship and affection. They form extremely close bonds with their primary caretaker and do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. They often do better kept in household pairs or small groups, so that they can entertain each other while their owners are away. Some Siamese can have a nervous personality and most do not like sudden changes in their living environment. Siamese can be aloof toward strangers and are often skittish around newcomers to the home.

...Another behavioral trait of this breed is their tendency to thrash their tail when bored. They can be a bit demanding of attention. They are fastidiously clean and easy to care for as an indoor companion. They crave warm places and are fond of piling up with people or other animals. This is a breed of many extremes and makes a unique, wonderful companion...

We affectionately call this squirrel stumpy due to its shortened tail. We always recognize it as it works its way through the trees or along the fence. Haven't seen it for a while, so nice to get a good sighting! In our yard near Beaverton, Oregon.

Affectionately referred to as the ‘Downton of the North’, Gawthorpe Hall was redesigned in the 1850s by Sir Charles Barry, designer of the Houses of Parliament and the ‘real’ Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle.

The modest Hall houses the North West’s largest collection of portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery as well as The Gawthorpe Textiles Collection, a wonderful collection of intricate lace, embroidery and needlework amassed by Miss Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth.

Gawthorpe Hall is the final stop on ‘The Brontë Way’, a long distance route with strong associations with the writings of Charlotte Brontë and the family.

This is my gorgeous baby Moriarty (named after watching far too much Sherlock Holmes) sitting watching the snow fall.

He is so soppy and affectionate as well as being the most beautiful cat in the whole World, I know I'm slightly bias, but those eyes!

Moriarty is a Ragdoll. I chose the breed Ragdoll because of their laidback temperament, beautiful blue eyes and affectionate behaviour, and he definitely lives up to it.

Here's a bit of info about Ragdolls, for anyone who's interested in the breed.

Ragdolls are large, laid-back, semi longhaired cats with captivating blue eyes. The Ragdoll is a pointed breed, which means that the body is lighter in colour than the points (the face, legs, tail and ears). The Ragdoll cat is carefully bred to produce large affectionate animals in three patterns, two with white (mitted and bi-colour) and one with no white (colourpoint). The ideal Ragdoll is a well-balanced cat, with no extreme features. Neutered males will usually top the scale at 15-20 pounds; females are proportionately smaller and usually weigh between 10-15 pounds at maturity. Ragdolls are slow-maturing, reaching full coat colour at two years, and full size and weight at four.

Ragdoll cats tend to be more interested in humans than some breeds of cats. They are known to run to greet you at the door, follow you from room to room, flop on you, sleep with you, and generally choose to be where you are. Many Ragdolls have been taught to come when called and play fetch. They are gentle cats, and usually play without extending their claws. Ragdolls tend to be floor cats, not jumpers. The Ragdoll's semi long coat is plush and silky, and requires minimal grooming to keep it looking its best. They should be combed with a steel comb on a regular basis to find and remove any loose hair or tangles. Quality coats consist mainly of long, soft guard hairs. Ragdolls, just like all breeds of cats, will shed, usually with the change of seasons. The absence of the thick, dense, insulating undercoats results in reduced shedding and matting. In all, Ragdolls are well behaved, and easy to care for perfect pet for our modern, busy, lifestyles.

Ragdolls were developed in the 1960's by Ann Baker; a breeder in Riverside California. The origin of the Ragdoll breed consisted almost entirely of free-roaming cats. Ann bred Josephine, a domestic longhaired white female that was found running loose in her neighbourhood, to other cats she owned or found. The offspring of this female had unique temperament traits that were very endearing. By selecting individuals with the look, temperament and criteria she wanted for her breeding program, she created the Ragdoll breed.

Samburu is a lovely place to watch elephants. We watched this pair meet and greet each other as they crossed the dried riverbed. The larger one chased the smaller one and then they tussled a little before eventually settling into this embrace.
